The noose around our financial freedoms is ever-tightening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">BULL Bitcoin, a Canadian non-custodial Bitcoin exchange and an Innovators-level sponsor of <a href=\"https:\/\/btchel.com\/fi\/\">BTCHEL2026<\/a>, today launches its <strong>Stop DAC8 <\/strong>campaign, designed to counter the <a href=\"https:\/\/taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu\/taxation\/tax-transparency-cooperation\/administrative-co-operation-and-mutual-assistance\/directive-administrative-cooperation-dac\/dac8_en\">2026 EU Directive<\/a> that requires European crypto-asset service providers to collect and hand over identity and transaction data for millions of customers. DAC8 came into effect this year, with the first reports expected by 2027.&nbsp;<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Under the guise of transparency, the stated purpose of <a href=\"https:\/\/dac8.com\/what-is-dac8\/\">DAC8 <\/a>is to exchange information between tax authorities, but \u201cthe danger lies in the creation of a mass database linking legal identity, home address and transaction history, including transactions that have no relevance whatsoever to taxation,\u201d reads the BULL Bitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/dac8.org\/press\/en\">press release<\/a> on July 8. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Earlier this year, BULL Bitcoin, recently MiCA-licensed through its AMF (LEONOD SARL) entity, filed a summary petition to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Conseil_d%27%C3%89tat\">France&#8217;s Conseil d&#8217;\u00c9tat<\/a>, a legal advisor for the executive branch and an administrative court within the French legal system. Bull Bitcoin petitions France&#8217;s Conseil d&#8217;\u00c9tat to strike down DAC8, which constitutes a dangerous mass surveillance of crypto-assets and their holders. Don\u2019t Create (More of) Them<br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><br>France has been particularly hard hit by <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/03\/19\/france-is-experiencing-wave-of-crypto-assault\/\">attacks against and kidnappings of<\/a> known personalities in the broader cryptocurrency sphere. When your address and other personal information about you and your family are leaked, together with exact bitcoin (or cryptocurrency) withdrawals in your name, you\u2019re put in particular danger. The microscopic tax and anti-money laundering benefits that may stem from MiCA and DAC8 legislation are completely undermined by the increased threat and danger these informational honeypots pose to civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAgainst a backdrop of daily data leaks and a surge in assaults and kidnappings targeting crypto-asset holders, building such a database endangers the physical safety of millions of holders and their loved ones. The civil servants with access to this data are also put at risk, becoming targets for anyone seeking to obtain it\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re at a crossroads,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dac8.com\/en\/\">reads<\/a> the manifesto accompanying the DAC8 website.&nbsp;BULL Bitcoin holds DAC8 to be the &#8220;greatest threat to date to the survival of fundamental rights and Bitcoin&#8217;s cypherpunk principles.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Bull Bitcoin stands as a bulwark: we refuse to be accomplices to this abuse by governments.
